Marriott Manila's Festive Treats: Thanksgiving's Turkey to Go

I have a lot to be thankful for this year. With it now being the last quarter of 2013, I've began to reflect on all the goals I had set and everything I had accomplished in the past months. There really is a lot for me to be thankful for! I was determined to make something of my 2013 - to take control my life and not be controlled by it, and I think I've done a pretty good job thus far.

I am particularly looking forward to this year's Thanksgiving. Although it's more of an American tradition, I like what it represents and it's also a good excuse to have friends over to sit down to a great spread!

I was lucky enough to get invited to check out the Thanksgiving spread at Marriott Hotel Manila. Their Festive Treats event was especially put together for the busy folks who don't have the time to spend hours in the kitchen but who still want to enjoy a hearty meal.

Marriott Hotel Manila continues the season of gifting, Thanksgiving, and merrymaking through its Turkey to Go (P7,500). Whether it’s a feast for your family and friends or a special dinner with your colleagues, it is best to have an early order of Executive Chef Meik Brammer’s original roasted turkey.

The Turkey to Go can be ordered for pick up at the Marriott between November 28 to December 25, 2013. It includes 6 to 7 kilos of whole roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, lettuce salad with dressing, potato salad, a kilo of classic stuffing, pan gravy, buttered mashed potato, Brussels sprouts with bacon, and baked pumpkin. For dessert there's baked pumpkin pie and baked apple pie.

The turkey was a sight to behold! Roasted to a rich caramel brown the bird was crispy on the outside yet soft and succulent on the inside. The bay and apple stuffing absorbed all the delicious juices that dripped from inside the turkey's cavity making it even more delectable and just perfect with the cranberry sauce.

The Turkey to Go also comes with six different fixins to make the meal all the more special (read: you don't have to lift a finger!). My favorite is the baked pumpkin - it's real simple, but just brings home the feeling of the season and makes me feel all giddy in anticipation of Christmas.

Thanksgiving would not be complete without a slice of pumpkin pie now, would it? Chef Meik added in a whole pumpkin pie for everyone to enjoy. Each slice is sweet with hints of nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. All you'd need to provide is the whipped cream on top - be generous!

And hey, if that isn't enough for you, the package also comes with a whole apple pie which would go perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream (and maybe some more of that whipped cream).

When mucking around Manila during the festive Burr months, celebrate a year of blessings and give thanks for all the opportunities and gifts you've received from strangers, friends, and family. And what's a better way to celebrate than to have the Marriott Manila do all the cooking for you with their Turkey to Go while you sit back with your glass of wine and not lift a finger!
